Meet Abbey

This is Abbey. She is my granparents' dog. Her favorite thing to do is play dead. I wish I could get a picture of her doing it because it looks so funny! Bambi would love her, however, it is not likely they will meet. They live very far away but I am keeping my fingers crossed!

This is What SPOILED Looks Like!

This is one of Nancy's outfits. I definately think it fits her!

We celebrated Christmas with the dogs! They got a lot of gifts. Nancy got some clothes. Bambi and Shane are not big on clothes, they just got treats and toys. Nancy also got a pretty blue outfit. It has a nice snowflake on it. We did not actually get to be with the dogs on Christmas. We went somewhere else where we met Abbey the labradoodle. . .

Bambi Agility Update

Well, Bambi's agility training did not go perfectly. First, I tried to get her to go through a small tunnel. It was a little too small. If I tried to lure her through by placing her toy that she adored in the middle of the tunnel; Bambi could easily poke her head in to get it again. If I held it at the exit of the tunnel; she could just walk around the other side to get it. In the end, I only got her two front paws through the tunnel. Next time, I am going to try to get a bigger tunnel (I have quite a few) but since you are supposed to start out small, I moved her over to the next obstacle.
My sister Sophia and I got some boxes from the garage. The plan was to try to get Bambi to jump over them. Using the same squeaky toy that had been used for the tunnel obstacle, I held it up and squeaked it to get her attention. I used the command "Jump!" and eventually I had a breakthrough. Bambi did a sort of half jump, knocking over the box. It was not much, but it was something. I praised her and then tried again. Finally! She leaped over that box. It was not a graceful leap. It was not a well aimed leap. Yet still, I gave her a lot of praise.
I know you are supposed to start out small so I ended training for the day (that and I had run out of obstacles). Sorry there are no pictures! I did not want to distract her or myself. If I can, I will post a picture. Today, There is snow outside. I might not be able to train her today so I will devote the time to doing research on dog agility training. If I can, I might do a little obstacle course inside. This time, Bambi will be on a leash. You might have wondered why I did not use any dog treats. Since yesterday was the first training session, Bambi did not know any commands. I will start rewarding her with treats when she gets a little better.

Bambi is Starting Dog Agility (I hope)

I am thinking of getting Bambi interested in dog agility. She is extremely energetic and I think she would really enjoy it. I also think she would be very good at it. However, I need to start to train her. There is no time around this time of year to get her into real lessons but with the help of my sister, Sophia, I am going to train her in my own backyard.
I am not exactly a dog agility trainer so I don't have the best equipment. I was thinking of putting some boxes stacked up that she could run or jump over. I also have some play tunnels that I am definitely going to use. I hope this works!

Shane

Here is sweet old Shane. It was a little bit hard to acquire his photo. Shane does not enjoy getting his picture taken. He may be old but he is still ADORABLE! Shane and Nancy are inseparable but when we brought Bambi home - he was not a happy camper. He was also my first dog. The beginning of the three.

Intro to Dog Blog

Hi, I'm Ava. This blog is about my three dogs, Shane, Nancy, and Bambi. Shane is my oldest dog. He is 14. My second dog is six years old. Her name is Nancy. Last but not least, I have a crazy puppy named Bambi. She is nine months old. They are all mutts (did I say mutts? I meant to say NUTS!). Look at the pictures of them. If you know what breed they are, please comment! Sorry I could not get a picture of Shane. I am still trying! Can you guess which dog is Bambi and which dog is Nancy? Post a comment about what you think.
