Bambi Agility Update

Well, Bambi's agility training did not go perfectly. First, I tried to get her to go through a small tunnel. It was a little too small. If I tried to lure her through by placing her toy that she adored in the middle of the tunnel; Bambi could easily poke her head in to get it again. If I held it at the exit of the tunnel; she could just walk around the other side to get it. In the end, I only got her two front paws through the tunnel. Next time, I am going to try to get a bigger tunnel (I have quite a few) but since you are supposed to start out small, I moved her over to the next obstacle.
My sister Sophia and I got some boxes from the garage. The plan was to try to get Bambi to jump over them. Using the same squeaky toy that had been used for the tunnel obstacle, I held it up and squeaked it to get her attention. I used the command "Jump!" and eventually I had a breakthrough. Bambi did a sort of half jump, knocking over the box. It was not much, but it was something. I praised her and then tried again. Finally! She leaped over that box. It was not a graceful leap. It was not a well aimed leap. Yet still, I gave her a lot of praise.
I know you are supposed to start out small so I ended training for the day (that and I had run out of obstacles). Sorry there are no pictures! I did not want to distract her or myself. If I can, I will post a picture. Today, There is snow outside. I might not be able to train her today so I will devote the time to doing research on dog agility training. If I can, I might do a little obstacle course inside. This time, Bambi will be on a leash. You might have wondered why I did not use any dog treats. Since yesterday was the first training session, Bambi did not know any commands. I will start rewarding her with treats when she gets a little better.
